Brindle will only come out at night, and you may have the chance to cross it while you explore your island. When you find it first, it will really be afraid of you, despite the fact that as ghost, it should be the opposite.
It is so scared, pieces of his mind will fall and float, and twig you will ask you to recover them for him. It's somehow your fault, so it's just helping the little guy.
To find the rooms, explore the island and prepare your anti-insect net. When you see a floating song, enter it with the net, then resume the exploration. You will have to find five pieces in total to make brindle again.
When you all have all five, go back to where you have found twig and give them. It will give you a gift, asking you to choose something new or something dear. There does not seem to be a "correct" answer and the fol lengths present seem to be random.
